Sign-up Bonus Details
The card now offers a 40,000-Avios sign-up bonus, up from the standard 30,000-Avios. To qualify, applicants must spend £5,000 within the first three months of account opening. The promotion is open to anyone who has not held a BA Amex Business Card or any other American Express Business Card in the past 12 months. Personal BA Amex cards, including the personal British Airways American Express cards, do not disqualify a holder.
Earning Rates and Annual Bonus
The Accelerating Business card currently rewards spend with 1.5 Avios per £1 and 2 On Business points per £1 spent with British Airways. From 7 October, the Avios rate will drop to 1.25 per £1 and On Business points will no longer be earned.

The card also offers a generous annual spend bonus: 10,000 Avios for every £20,000 spent, up to three times per calendar year. This caps the annual bonus at 30,000 Avios.

Eligibility and Fees
To qualify, applicants must have a UK bank or building society account, be aged 18 or over, have a permanent UK home address, and have no County Court Judgements for non-payment of debt. Sole traders can provide details of their personal bank account; VAT registration is not required. The annual fee is £250, a figure that can be compared to other business cards listed in our stats page.
The card’s representative APR is 104.9% variable, including the annual fee, while the purchase APR is 26.6% variable. Cardholders receive up to 56 days of interest-free payment and can order up to 99 free supplementary cards for employees.
Additional Benefits
Beyond the earning structure, the card includes standard American Express benefits: travel inconvenience cover with higher payouts for British Airways delays, travel accident protection, purchase protection, and refund protection. From 7 October, cardholders will also receive a £200 statement credit each calendar year when booking through Avios Hotels or Avios Car Hire, with the first credit arriving in October 2026 and the second in January 2027.
The 40,000-Avios bonus is worth roughly £400 when used for premium cabin flights, and at least £200 in Nectar credit if converted and spent at Sainsbury’s or Argos. The sign-up bonus expires on 6 October, so businesses should apply before that date.
