British Airways First Class revamp October 1 A380 suites
British Airways launches a major overhaul of its long-haul First Class soft product on October 1, introducing new serviceware, bedding, and amenities.

British Airways will launch a major revamp of its long-haul First Class soft product on October 1. The overhaul includes new serviceware, glassware, bedding, pyjamas, and amenity kits, marking the airline's first comprehensive soft product update since 2019.
The update aims to elevate service across all long-haul routes. New bespoke items reflect the airline's signature blue branding and come from renewed British luxury partnerships, though the specific brands remain undisclosed. Meal offerings will expand to include new grill and superfood salad choices, paired with personalized service standards that retain a British identity. The iconic British Afternoon Tea service will remain.
New A380 First suites debut with retrofitting across fleet
The soft product refresh coincides with the physical retrofit of British Airways' first Airbus A380, registration G-XLEC. This aircraft flew to Manila in early August for a nose-to-tail cabin refurbishment. It will return to service featuring eight new First suites.
These suites include sliding privacy doors, 32-inch entertainment screens, a personal wardrobe, a mini-bar, and copious storage. A 'buddy dining' option allows two passengers to dine together. Over the next few years, the same suites will be retrofitted onto all 12 of the airline's A380s. They will also be fitted as new on the 24 Boeing 777X aircraft British Airways has on order. There are no plans to retrofit the seats on any of the airline's other existing planes.
Update responds to shrinking First Class seats and intense competition
The revamp comes amid intense competition in the premium cabin sector. The number of First Class seats available across British Airways and its main rivals has shrunk in recent years. Yet competition remains fierce.
Lufthansa and Air France completely overhauled their First Class cabins within the last year. United Airlines is introducing enhanced Business Class+ products on key transatlantic routes. British Airways' investment responds directly to this elevated market standard.
Experience elevated, British-themed service on all long-haul First flights
Starting October 1, travelers on any British Airways long-haul First Class flight will experience the new soft product. The airline has designed updated service standards to be personalized but uniquely British. The soft product upgrade is intended to bring a bit of the new A380 suite experience across the entire First Class footprint.
Those booking routes soon to be operated by retrofitted A380s will gain access to the premium suites with storage and dining features unavailable elsewhere in the fleet. British Airways said the suites are a "game-changing" investment.
All 12 of British Airways’ A380 superjumbos will be retrofitted with the new First suites over the next few years.
