British Airways A380 retrofit introduces new 106-suite business cabin
British Airways has unveiled a comprehensive redesign of its Airbus A380 fleet, creating the world's largest business class cabin with 106 suites.

British Airways has introduced redesigned interiors across all cabins of its Airbus A380 fleet, featuring new seats, bedding, and amenities. The airline says its A380 will offer the world's largest business class cabin with 106 suites stretching from nose-to-tail on the upper deck.
CEO Sean Doyle stated this marks one of the most significant transformations the airline has ever undertaken on any aircraft. The retrofit involves more than 35,000 individual parts installed on each of the carrier's 12 superjumbos. It is a nose-to-tail refurbishment with updated colors, fabrics, and finishes in every cabin.
New cabin specifications
The Club World business class cabin runs the entire length of the upper deck. It retains the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond suite design but adds new fabrics, faux wood-effect privacy doors, and deep red accent colors borrowed from the First suite.
On the main deck, behind 12 First suites, is a supersized premium economy cabin. World Traveller Plus features Recaro long-haul seats with privacy wings, dark blue leather headrests, and faux wood-effect cocktail tables. All cabins receive new textiles and color schemes.
| Cabin Class | Location | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| Club World (Business) | Entire Upper Deck | 106 Collins Aerospace Super Diamond suites, faux wood doors, new fabrics, deep red accents |
| World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) | Main Deck (behind First) | 84 Recaro seats with privacy wings, new amenity kit, larger screens |
| World Traveller (Economy) | Main Deck | Existing seats with updated fabrics, wider seats, larger screens, new bedding |
Enhanced passenger amenities
World Traveller Plus passengers will receive a new amenity kit and bedding, which will also be rolled out across all BA long-haul aircraft in phases through November 2026. The kit is a reusable tote containing Dr.PAWPAW moisturizing balm, a dental kit, socks, and an eye mask.
Economy class travelers will get wider seats, larger seatback entertainment screens, and upgraded bedding. The new World Traveller pillow has a herringbone pattern with extra filling, accompanied by a plusher blue blanket with the red Speedmarque logo.
Sean Doyle added that at the heart of the transformation is the brand-new First suite, but the investment goes far beyond a single cabin. He said every detail has been thoughtfully designed with customers front and centre for a more seamless and memorable experience.
Heathrow lounge upgrades
Ground upgrades include a new lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5C, scheduled to open by the end of 2028. This lounge will feature a dedicated Concorde room, a 17-meter-long bar, and expansive airfield views, using the same design language as the airline's recently opened lounge in Miami.
Work on a new arrivals lounge at Heathrow is set to begin in early 2027. While upgrades to other Terminal 5 lounges are planned, the airline did not share a timeline for when that wider refit work would begin.
The A380 retrofit and lounge upgrades are part of British Airways’ 'Travel. Reimagine.' initiative. The airline has no plans to retire its A380 fleet anytime soon and has not signaled any intent to roll out the new A380 look on other aircraft in the near future.
