Amex boosts supplementary card bonuses
American Express boosts bonus points for adding a first supplementary card to five cards, including Gold and Platinum, with no spending requirement.
American Express has reintroduced enhanced bonus offers for customers adding their first supplementary card to several credit card accounts. The promotion, reported by Head for Points, runs until 31st October and requires no spending on the new card.
For the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card, the bonus for adding a first supplementary cardholder is now 9,000 Membership Rewards points. This is triple the standard offer. The bonus for The Platinum Card has been increased from 5,000 to 12,000 Membership Rewards points.
Enhanced bonuses across five cards
The offer extends to three other cards. The Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card and the Nectar Credit Card each now offer a doubled bonus of 6,000 points in their respective loyalty programs. For The American Express Rewards Credit Card, the bonus is more than doubled, rising to 5,000 Membership Rewards points. The first supplementary card on each account is free.
Head for Points states the offer is only valid for the first supplementary card added to an account. Customers who already have a supplementary card in issue will not receive the bonus for adding another. The site strongly advises using a specific page on the American Express website to apply, warning that "applications made via other routes will track."
Standard bonuses on other cards
Separate from this limited-time promotion, standard supplementary card bonuses remain available for other American Express cards when applying via the recommended link.

Cashback offer and deadline
American Express is also running a special offer of £25 cashback for adding a supplementary card to either of its two Cashback cards. This is separate from the points promotions.
The enhanced bonuses for the Gold, Platinum, Marriott Bonvoy, Nectar, and Rewards credit cards are available until 31st October. For eligible cardholders who have never issued a supplementary card, this represents a significant, no-cost opportunity to earn bonus points. The report reiterates the importance of using the designated application page to ensure the bonus is properly registered.
