The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Card, which carries a $395 annual fee, includes a free points sharing benefit. This feature allows the primary cardholder to create a network for transferring Atmos Rewards points without the standard fee.

Normally, Atmos Rewards charges members $10 for every 1,000 points they wish to share with another account. The premium card removes this cost entirely for its holder. This is a points sharing feature, not a points pooling system, which is considered more straightforward and flexible.

How The Free Sharing Feature Works

The primary cardmember can establish a points sharing network with up to ten other Atmos Rewards members. These other members do not need to hold the Summit Card themselves. The feature typically becomes active about one day after the cardholder is approved for the card.

The primary cardholder manages the network and must be the one to send invitations. Each Atmos Rewards member can only belong to one such network at a time. Points transfers within the network are bidirectional and have no minimum or maximum limit.

Network connections last for 365 days. An invited member can leave a network at any time, but the primary cardholder can only fill each of the ten slots once per year. If the primary cardholder closes the Summit Card account, all sharing network connections are terminated.

Setting Up And Using Points Sharing

Cardholders must use a specific section of the Atmos Rewards website to access this free benefit. They should not go to the area for buying or sharing points, as that is for the paid service.

The process begins by logging into the Atmos Rewards account and navigating to the Account overview page. From there, the cardholder scrolls to the Rewards section and clicks the Free points sharing button under Card Benefits.

On the next page, clicking Send an invite allows the cardholder to enter the name and Atmos Rewards number of the person they wish to add. The invitee receives an email and must click Accept invitation, then log into their own account to finalize the link.

It is advised to be logged into the invitee's account during acceptance to prevent issues, and to ensure the cardholder sending the invitation is not logged in at the same time. Once connected, a green dot and Connected status appears.

To transfer points, the person giving the points must initiate the transfer. They click the Share points button for the linked member, select the number of points, and confirm. Points should be available immediately in the recipient's account, who will also receive a notification email.

The Value Of Free Points Sharing

The free points sharing feature is described as super handy and a smart offering for a premium card. Its execution is praised as pretty flawless due to the ease of the process, the lack of transfer limits, and the bidirectional capability.

This benefit can be valuable for families or groups traveling together, allowing them to consolidate points from multiple travelers into one account more quickly. It also helps with managing travel plans, as one person can centralize points from others for easier booking.

An additional advantage involves the Atmos Rewards Summit Card's waiver of the $20 partner award booking fee. Transferring points from a non-cardholder's account to a cardholder's account before booking a partner airline award can save this fee per ticket.

A personal example is shared, where a father had around 40,000 points in his Atmos Rewards account for years, and when his child got the Atmos Rewards Summit Card, they moved those points over to the child's account. This allowed them to manage the points more easily for family travel planning.
