JetBlue Launches BlueFirst Domestic First Class with Cold
JetBlue has unveiled its new BlueFirst domestic first class, featuring recliner seats and cold meals served in cardboard bento boxes on flights over 899

JetBlue has detailed its new BlueFirst domestic first class cabin, which will install 12 recliner seats on its Airbus A320 aircraft. The service, separate from its Mint cabin, includes cold meals in cardboard boxes and a premium ground experience.
At the core of the BlueFirst cabin are Collin Aerospace MiQ First Class recliner seats upgraded with Tuft & Needle's T&N Flex foam. JetBlue says this provides "personalized support and responsive pressure relief." The seats are arranged in a 2-2 layout across three rows at the front of the plane.

The FirstFare Dining Concept
Due to limited galley space on its non-Mint aircraft, JetBlue developed a cold meal service called FirstFare. Meals are served in cardboard bento-style boxes containing an entrée, side, and dessert. This service is only available on flights of 899 miles or more, with options like sweet or savory crepes or sesame noodles with beef or tofu.
On shorter flights or outside primary meal times, passengers can choose from a rotating snack selection. Brands include Sockerbit, Tosi, Wholesome Bakery, Pop Daddy Snacks, and Cape Cod Chips.
The airline is emphasizing its premium drink selection. It will serve specialty coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, Smith Teamaker teas, and wines selected by New York's Parcelle. Passengers can also use an interactive "Mixologist Mode" on their seatback screens to design custom cocktails, which are then sent to flight attendants for preparation. Glassware is from Fable and coasters are designed by illustrator Danielle Rose Fisher.
Ground Services and Baggage
BlueFirst passengers receive a dedicated ground experience. This includes a priority check-in line, fast-track security at approximately 30 airports, Group 1 boarding, and reserved overhead bin space. Both BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares include two free checked bags and priority baggage delivery.
Rationale and Main Cabin Impact
According to the source, JetBlue introduced BlueFirst to capture higher-spending passengers seeking a proper first class experience on its domestic network. The airline stated it was losing these customers to competitors offering such cabins.
The total seat count on the Airbus A320s will not change with the addition of BlueFirst. JetBlue achieved this by reducing legroom in the Main Cabin. Seat pitch there will be cut from around 34 inches to a standard 30 inches to accommodate more seats within the same space.
JetBlue chief executive Joanna Geraghty commented on the launch. "Customers are increasingly looking for more premium experiences, and BlueFirst gives them an raise experience that feels distinctly JetBlue," she said. Geraghty added, "Customers told us loud and clear that comfort matters most, so that's where we started." The report was published by Paddle Your Own Kanoo.
